Prince Harry Makes Bombshell Claims, Including Believing Princess Diana Faked Her Death In 'Spare' Interviews
Prince Harry Believes Princess Diana Faked Her Death
In a series of interviews promoting his new memoir, "Spare," Prince Harry made a shocking claim about his belief that his mother, Princess Diana, faked her death in the 1997 Paris car crash. Harry told Anderson Cooper that he thought it was "part of a plan" for Diana to disappear and that he had "huge amounts of hope" that she was still alive.
Prince Harry's Reaction to Diana's Death
In addition to his belief that Princess Diana faked her death, Harry also spoke about his own reaction to her death. He revealed that he felt guilt while greeting mourners after her death and did not cry until her burial. Harry also said that he and Prince William recreated the drive through the Paris tunnel years later, finding it hard to believe that Diana died there.
Prince Harry's Stepmother, Camilla Parker Bowles
In his interviews, Harry also accused his stepmother, Camilla Parker Bowles, of planting stories about him and Prince William in the media in order to improve her reputation. Harry said that after the 1996 divorce of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, Camilla began a media campaign to rehab her image and that she traded information about other members of the royal family in exchange for good press. Harry claimed that Camilla was "dangerous" because of the connections she was forging within the British press and that he felt he was one of the "bodies" left "in the street" as a result of her actions. In his book, Harry wrote that Camilla "sacrificed me on her personal PR altar." Harry also revealed that he and Prince William asked their father not to marry Camilla, but he did so in 2005. While acknowledging that Camilla made Prince Charles happy, Harry said that they "didn't think it was necessary" for them to marry and that it would cause "more harm than good."
